Making the most of routines

Making the most of routines - embedding intentional teaching

Educators often express concern that so much of their day is taken up with routines such as serving meals; and 'busy' tasks such as applying sunscreen and finding lost hats.  In this presentation we reflect on the purpose of some routines and how they could be adjusted to support children's development of self care, group responsibility, fine motor and regulation skills. We consider how to maximise the children's engagement in the task, and minimise the time educators need to spend away from the children.

The online version of this presentation is only 20 minutes, and is available free.

If this presentation is requested as a live, face to face session, there will be extended discussion and interaction with educators to take the presentation length to approximately 1 hour.
